Have you ever find yourself dreaming of the sounds and touch of the waves, the fresh mist of nature, the serenity of just being at the beach or island without any worries about life and work? Sounds promising and perfect, right? I always hear people wishing this especially my colleagues at work but whenever I say, okay do something about it. Go out and relax. Often times, I get a reply of "How I wish!" with eyes rolling. Then you just let it slip away and go on with your daily grind and routine.

We wake up every morning, do our morning rituals, go to work or school, do the stuff for a living, then end the day being tired and most of the times, stressed, then just go back home, rest and sleep. That's it. I have been to this crazy routine and countless complaints every day that life is so boring and I am aching for a break. Yes, we may be entitled for day offs and annual leave but still, we do not make the most out of it. We even tell ourselves that why do weekends just pass by in a click. We can not even comprehend how fast things happen.

But we can do something about it. Always remind yourself that. We can always go somewhere and push ourselves to rest and relax. I always hear my friends that they don't get enough break during weekends to do the things they want like going to the beach but they can't seem to make it happen. So here's some tips to get the break you deserve.

1. Plan your weekend or day off like how you plan your activities for work or for a day. For example, if you wanna hit the beach on weekend, then plan out that on Saturday morning, you will wake up early to be where you wanna be and how you could get there. You can not even give an excuse that you don't have a time because if you just plan everything well, you can always make time for it.

2. Keep yourself on the loop with the outdoor activities and events in your city. For example, subscribe or check out the local event organisers/meet up groups in your area who are doing outdoor activities and trips. Sometimes, even if you are not planning for anything and you see some exciting and fun event, you just can't help but check it out then the next thing you know, you just had a blast on your weekend. Plus if you're single, you have a chance to meet someone and mingle.

3. Make a yearly calendar for special events or holidays so that you won't forget filing for a leave for those days and you can plan ahead on how to maximize and enjoy those days. We often get long weekends in a year or a stretched holiday, so it can be your chance to go somewhere and do something fun without touching your annual leave days. Also, if you keep these things posted in your calendar, you can also plan ahead for the budget for your trips and analyse how to save money.

4. Take a break with someone. If you want to relax and go somewhere for a break, it is better to share it with your family/friends/even special someone. Plus it can be more exciting because you have them and you can have good time together.

5. Always remind yourself that you deserve a break. Don't tell yourself that because your boss is giving you a shitload of work, you can not even enjoy your day off when everything is on top of your head. I used to have this problem that even if I'm at home, I can't seem to get work off my mind. But a senior colleague once told me to always work smart and not hard. That means, don't push yourself too hard at work and when you're done with work for the day, don't bring it at home. That way you can be more relaxed and reduce the stress in your life.

So take a break and make the most out of it and surely, you will live your life happier!

Love and Peace!
