Mararison Island or Malalison is one of the popular tourist spots in Panay Island. It is located in Culasi, Antique and from the town centre at the Culasi port, you have to take a pump boat ride to get to the island which takes 20 minutes. Then you can also request for a tour around the island where you will be able to appreciate the scenic view of the nature. I swear, it is like an instant therapeutic feel just by watching the beauty of the mountains and the sea.

Upon setting your foot in the island, you would want to soak yourself right away in the water and lie after on the white sand. You can also do some snorkelling in the deeper side to check out the live sea creatures and corals. Just ensure to ask the locals in charge for guidance to avoid accidents or dangerous areas for snorkelling and it is advisable to bring your own gears.

The Malalison choir are composed of the children in the island who serenade the tourists in return for a donation which is equally divided to each of them after.

It is strongly recommended to hike the mountains of Malalison Island and it was worth the trip upon reaching the top because of the breathtaking and serene view. It will really make you stop and just breathe and listen to the sound of nature. Also, you have to get a tour guide because of some slippery and steep pathway along the way and remember to bring a litre of WATER!

There are accommodations/hostels in the town centre of Culasi, Antique which can guide and plan your trip to the island but otherwise, you can go to the Culasi port and find the Tourism Office there where you have to pay the environmental and terminal fee. They can also assist you with your trip and upon reaching the island, there would be staff who will offer you daytime and overnight accommodations as well as trekking guide.

Love and Peace.
