Things I Learned During Pandemic

Since the pandemic began, the most common question we ask each other is how are you coping with the pandemic. It is so common especially to those we need to check. So how do we really cope and adjust? Most of us, if not all, thought that this will pass and it's gonna end anytime soon but one year has passed and we're still on it, even gotten worse. So the question left is how do we move forward from this crazy pandemic? Because we can't just wait for it to be over and not go on with our lives. After all, we're still breathing, fortunately.

So here are the things I learned during the pandemic:

1. There's beauty in not doing anything.

We are creatures of routine. We start our day with an alarm or if not, our body instantly knows what time to get up and start our daily routine. We then go to work or school, complete our tasks for the day and end our day by going home. Yes, we live by it that we don't even try to breathe because even in our day offs or holidays, we still have certain tasks to do just to fulfill the day and make our self productive. But during the pandemic, most of us shifted our routine in 360 degrees. We realized that it is possible and it is okay to just rest and change our routine and adjust it in a way that we can have a balance of life and work. Most of us realized that we don't live life well because of our routine but when that is changed, we learn to adapt which is my next realization.

2. We have to adapt and adjust.

I always tell my friends during the half of the pandemic that we'll do stuff like traveling, hugging, and meet-up once this is over but it seems like it's far from over now so it has changed to "we'll do this once everything is manageable." Yes, manageable or under control. If we can adapt to the new normal and learn to be safe then we can go on with our lives. We should not get stuck and let the pandemic consume us. We have to fight it by living with the new normal where we have to always be safe and follow the protocols. We can't wish and just expect things will be back to normal by not being productive. My point is, we need to keep living but we have to learn to live with the new ways that will keep us safe and healthy.

3. Learn to prioritize.

With everything that's going on, we learned that we can't do everything now. We do not have the freedom to do things that might risk yourself and others. Therefore, we must act and think in a way that we choose the things we must do in our life during pandemic. For instance, we learn to prioritize our health and others by keeping a safe distance and wearing your mask at all times. Also, we learned to realize the things that matter to us like our family, work, or just being able to breathe and so we align it to how we live our life during this pandemic. If you learn to prioritize what matters to you, you will make a conscious decision to always stay safe and just do what's important.

4. Health is wealth.

Most of us learned to stay at home during the pandemic and did not got out much to stay safe. With that, we realized that being healthy is so important and building your immune system is our weapon and armor in this battle. We can forego every material things we own because we learned that there's no point in having much during this pandemic and that we should prioritize being healthy physically and mentally. Since there are others who are safely quarantining but are struggling mentally with the new situation, thus, we should find ways to be strong and healthy mentally. Hence, it really makes a difference to check to your family and friends.

It was not an easy shift in our lives but we can adapt and adjust to live well during the pandemic and stay safe.

Love and Peace
